The festival of Mahashivaratri is being celebrated in Nepal with religious gaiety and fervour.

People visiting various temples to worship Lord Shiva. Thousands of devotees offering prayers at famous Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu.

All four doors of the temple are open since 3 O’clock but still devotees waiting in long queues for their turn.

Amid chants of Om Namah Shivaye and Shambhu hundreds of sadhus performing special rituals in the temple premises.

More than one million devotees from within Nepal and different parts of India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia are expected to visit Pashupatinath temple.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the festival.
